Peru Program - 2012

In July 2012, Impacto Project headed down south to Peru to the rural community of Socabaya in Arequipa.

We partnered with a local school, Colegia Felipe Santiago Saalavery. Co-founder Anayansi Prado, Audio instructor Freya Rojo and Program Coordinator Jacob Rebatet taught photography and audio production to 13 boys and girls ages 11-13.

After a week of work, students celebrated with an exhibit at their school which included their best photos and screening of the 3 multimedia videos they produced during the course. This was followed a couple of days later by an exhibit and screening at the reputable Centro Cultural Peruano-Norteamericano (Peruvian-Northamerican Cultural Center) established by the US Embassy in Peru who served as a partner for the program.

Our best student, Elmer, received a scholarship form the
Centro Cultural Peruano-Norteamericano to study English.

Impacto Project donated two cameras to the school so that the participants can continue practicing their newly acquired skills and the school can capture their events.
